Card, Snorter & Two Lines Of Amphetamine

When I first heard this song I didn’t have a clue that it was (allegedly) about drugs; amphetamine to be precise. It was only years later, when I was an accomplished druggie, that it dawned on me. As it was never banned, I guess that I wasn’t alone in my naivety or non-interpretation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVr2hbE6aW0

Unlike LSD, heroin and cannabis, for example, I am not aware of too many songs which reference or are about amphetamine, but there are some. Examples that do spring to mind include ‘Amphetamine Logic’ (Sisters of Mercy) and ‘Sorted for E’s and Wizz’ (Pulp).

Amphetamine (speed) is of course one of the most well known stimulants. It is the one I have probably used more than any other, but its cost in terms of aftermath has increased considerably with age. A full-on binge now wipes out at least a couple of days, which deters even irregular use.

Hardly surprisingly it comes with a host of risks, not least of which is addiction, and significant body load (with everything which can come with it). It is probably a tad hypocritical to say it, but if you do use it, take it easy.

In terms of its effects, my first ride with amphetamine with some background information is documented on this page: https://www.drugusersbible.com/2019/03/sample-page-amphetamine-speed.html
